The North East is a crucial area for the Italian economy, because there resides a fifth of the population and produces a quarter of the GDP of the private sector.
Also, it is from this area that originates almost one third of exports of the whole country with a strong presence in Slovakia.
In particular, businesses in the Veneto have accentuated during the crisis strategies to reduce costs and business restructuring, enhancing their presence in international markets and investing more resources in R & S and innovation. This export-led model proved to be a factor of competitiveness and growth for Italy and the entire Eurozone.
